Training from Fèisean nan Gàidheal
Fèisean nan Gàidheal supports a training plan for staff, tutors, organisers and volunteers. This plan, consisting of a range of one or two day courses, or longer courses provided by external agencies for which financial assistance is available, encourages continuing professional development and assists the professionalisation of a largely voluntary workforce throughout its membership. Fèisean nan Gàidheal employs a Training Development Officer whose time is divided between FnG and the Traditional Music Tutor Training Network.

Sabhal Mòr Ostaig 20/21 February 2010
Workshops
As part of its continued commitment to developing skills within the Fèis movement, Fèisean nan Gàidheal will be holding a Tutor Training Weekend on the above dates. These weekends will concentrate on the basic requirements for tutoring - Level 1, and more advanced teaching techniques in Level 2.
Any participant who has a reasonable competence in music, song or dance is welcome to attend this course, although the focus of the weekend will be teaching Gaelic music in a Fèis context. However, you must be over the age of 16 to take part. If you are under 18, you will require the permission of a parent/guardian to attend.
Level 1 will focus on the basics of teaching at your first Fèis, including the importance of Gaelic at a Fèis, careful prior preparation, groupwork and an introduction to child protection.
Level 2 will focus on more specific issues encountered by tutors, such as dealing with difficult pupils, teaching resources and a child protection question and answer session.
Level 3 (in preparation) Those who have completed Level 2 are eligible and the course will focus on more advanced teaching techniques and teaching strategies for various situations. This level will be available at the 2011 session.
