‘Stramash’ in Nairn

Fèis Inbhir Narainn have once again extended their programme for their main fèis, with a separate group-work class for advanced players. The ‘Stramash’ class, led by Robbie Mackenzie, will be open to young people aged 12-25 who can play tunes at full speed.

The class will be one among several groupwork sessions to choose from, led by top-class tutors. As in previous years, people aged 8 years old to adult of beginner and intermediate levels will receive a full day’s tuition from musician such as Allan Henderson (Blazin Fiddles) and Gordon Gunn (Session A9.)

Yet, the fèis will not only be offering instrumental classes. Rona Lightfoot will be leading of full day of tution in the Gaelic song tradition while the Scots song class will be taken by Scott Gardiner.

Music and Games will be at the heart of the Wee Fèis (for children aged 4-7 years old), with a separate session for 7-10 year olds. Both sessions will on the afternoon of the fèis between 2.45-5pm.

The day’s play looks set to continue into the evening with the Tutor’s Cèilidh from 7pm, which will be open to the public.

All these activities will take place Saturday 18th February at Nairn Community and Arts Centre, with the exception of the singing classes which will happen at the United Reformed Church.
