Fèis Eilean na Hearadh

Fèis Eilean na Hearadh will continue its 25th anniversary celebrations during the Fèis week in Sir E Scott School in Tarbert from the 3rd – 7th July. With a multitude of talented and enthusiastic tutors on hand, tuition in several instruments will be offered alongside shinty, singing and a subject which is proving to be very popular  – Harris Tweed craft. Teenagers will be given the chance to go outwith the boundaries of the school and climb hills, go kayaking and ride a bike through the castle grounds in Stornoway. They will also have a chance to film and direct a FilmG entry with help from Dol Eoin MacKinnon.

Following a massive community drive and fundraising effort, a substantial sum of money was raised to replace instruments and materials lost in a fire in the Scalpay factory where they were being held and several donations were graciously offered, for which the committee of Fèis Eilean na Hearadh is eternally grateful. A special midweek cèilidh will be held during the Fèis where tutors of past and present will be invited to perform.
