Information
Fèis an Earraich will take place from 30th March to 3rd April 2009 and will be held in Portree Primary School with Fèis nan Deugairean classes in Àrd-sgoil Phort Rìgh. The aim of the week is to offer young people an enjoyable opportunity to receive intensive tuition in a range of subjects or instruments related to traditional music, Gaelic language and culture.
To attend Fèis an Earraich applicants should be Primary 5 upwards and be over 9 years of age by 28th February 2009. Some classes will be available through the medium of Gaelic. Teenage participants S2 – S6 may opt for a separate Fèis nan Deugairean programme which will include Groupwork, Harmony singing, Playing for Accompaniment and Media skills. A full programme of evening activities including games, sports, talent show and a cèilidh dance will also be on offer.
Participants may attend the Fèis either from home on a daily basis or by staying in the High School Hostel. Teen accommodation will be at the Portree Backpackers, Bayfield. Those from Portree and surrounding areas will attend on a non-residential basis but all are welcome at the evening activities. A bus will run daily from Kyle from Monday evening until Friday morning costing £10 per week per person.
The fee for participants will be as follows:
First/only child attending Residential £140
Second/subsequent child/ren Residential £120
Non-residential £75
Booking forms should be completed and returned by Saturday 28th February 2009 with a deposit of £25. Deposits should be paid by cheque, made payable to Fèis an Earraich. Please note that information will sent to registered participants by mid-March.
