Our annual event, this year taking place from 30th March to 3rd April, welcomes 150 Primary 5-7 aged children to Ullapool for a 5-day Fèis with a great selection of classes to choose from. Participants can choose from accordion, stepdance, harp, Highland dance, tin whistle, drama, chanter/pipes, percussion, fiddle, art, guitar, Gaelic song, piano, groupwork, Gaelic groupwork, Gaelic language and creative writing.
Tutors for this year’s event include local tutors Alpha Munro and Lauren McColl who will be joined by among others Gary Innes, John Somerville, Maeve Mackinnon, Mairearad Green and Calum Stewart. In addition to first class tuition in music, song and dance, the Fèis offers a range of evening activities, cèilidhs, dances and concerts all in Ullapool village. The Thursday night Cèilidh dance is a particular highlight and an opportunity for everybody to get together for some social time and some great dancing with music provided by our fantastic tutor team some of whom begun their musical journey with Fèis Rois over twenty years ago!
Residential places are offered to P6 and 7 pupils, with P5 attending as non-residents. A live-in team of highly motivated supervisors take care of general welfare, health and safety and ensure that all participants are able to enjoy the fun and games of the Fèis. All staff associated with the event undergo a full Disclosure Scotland check.
I enjoyed making friends and music, learning new skills and having a big adventure!
