Fèis Farr are delighted to announce a new series of family music afternoons over the coming winter and spring. Based in Strathnairn near Inverness the fèis will run four of these family friendly events with a range of music, art and sports workshops for over 8s and a special Fèis Bheag or ‘wee fèis’ for younger children.
The first of these afternoons takes place on Sunday 5th October 2014 running from 2 until 4pm in Farr Community Hall. Activities on offer include fiddle, guitar, tin whistle, chanter, Gaelic song, art and – in a first for Fèis Farr – shinty sessions. Children over the age of 8 as well as parents are welcome to take part in these workshops with beginners and more advanced players all catered for. Meanwhile the Fèis Bheag or ‘wee fèis’ will offer puppetry, games and art activities for younger children. A short informal cèilidh will round off the day with refreshments and home baking available too.
Dates for the following three afternoons are confirmed as Saturday 22nd November, Saturday 31st January and Saturday 14th March 2015, all from 2 until 4pm in Farr Community Hall. Booking is not necessary and each event costs £4 for the first child in a family and £2 for additional family members.
