Fèis Dhùn Èideann is pleased to announce that registration is open for this year’s February fèis in Edinburgh. This year there are two special events on offer: a traditional music day for secondary school pupils on Saturday 11th February and a two day fèis for children in p1 – 7 on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th February.
Secondary Group Workshop day, Saturday 11th February
This event is open to S1-6 pupils who can already play an instrument at intermediate or advanced level. Participants will attend workshops from 10am to 5pm where they will learn tunes or songs for part of the day and work on group arrangements for the rest of the time. Tutors for this workshop are the wonderful Angus Lyon and Darren MacLean. This event costs £25 per person. A family cèilidh will also take place in the evening from 6.30 – 8.30pm with music provided by fèis tutors, and participants will also be welcome to perform their new pieces.
Main Fèis (p1-7), Monday 13th & Tuesday 14th February
For p3-7 pupils a wide variety of workshops are on offer each day from 9am to 4pm including fiddle, accordion, guitar, chanter & pipes, tin whistle, clarsach, Gaelic song, percussion, groupwork, art, shinty and step-dancing. This event costs £45 per child.
The Cleas is Ceòl sessions meanwhile offer children in p1-2 a fun taster in traditional music, song and dance and will run from 1.45 – 4pm on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th February. This two day event costs £25 per child.
