Fèis Phàislig Young Participants Share the Stage with Scottish Music’s Finest

Fèis Phàislig participants are making the final preparations for the performance of a lifetime at the Trad Awards 2017 this Saturday in Paisley.

The MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, taking place on 2nd of December, will see an evening of renowned musicians recognised for their contributions to the world of traditional Scottish music. To be held this year in the Lagoon Centre in Paisley, this prestigious awards ceremony will provide spectators and nominees with an evening of wonderful music including performances from acts such as The Shee Big Band, Elephant Sessions, Siobhan Miller, BBC Radio Scotland Young Trad Musician of the Year 2017 Charlie Stewart … and Fèis Phàislig!

Fèis Phàislig is Paisley’s local traditional music tuition festival – one of 47 such groups across Scotland which, collectively, offer traditional music tuition to around 6,000 young people annually. With an ensemble of participants assembled from its extensive programme of tuition, the stage at Na Trads is sure to be jam-packed with the 40 young musicians and singers representing Fèis Phàislig with what promises to be a show-stopping performance. It is the result of the huge amount of work and effort that Fèis Phàislig put into delivering its year-round programme.

Fèis Chairperson, Grant MacFarlane, said: “We’re all really looking forward to the Trad Awards – particularly the 40 fèis partipants that have been putting in a power of work behind the scenes in preparation for the big night. It’ll be a wonderful experience for them, playing live in front of such a large audience and will hopefully inspire them to pursue further performance opportunities in the future. We’d like to thank the MG ALBA Trad Awards for this brilliant opportunity as well as Tasgadh, which provided us with funding for our rehearsal workshops in the run up to the ceremony.”

The evening will allow Fèis Phàislig participants the opportunity to enjoy exclusive performances and meet stars of the traditional music scene in this fun and informal setting. It hopefully won’t be long until these young musicians return once again to this same stage, collecting their very own awards!

If you’d like to see these very talented youngsters perform live, Fèis Phàislig’s Christmas Showcase will take place on the 16th of December in Paisley. For more information and tickets, contact Grant MacFarlane at info@feisphaislig.com .
