The New Year has brought good news to Fèis Mhuile with the announcement of sponsorship from several local businesses and individuals for their annual February Fèis.
The Fèis, which offers tuition in traditional music, Gaelic song and drama for children, put a call out for support to help run the Fèis weekend and committee members have been overwhelmed by the response. Among the businesses and individuals that have provided sponsorship are: Inverlussa Marine Services, Staffa Tours, Turas Mara, PDK Shellfish, Ardalanish Farm, Colin Morrison, Craig Rutherford Plant plus some very generous donations from land owners and tenants.
Fèis Chair Jennifer Johnston said:
“As with many other activities, the cost of running the Fèis has increased over the last couple of years. Although we receive funding from Fèisean nan Gàidheal and Argyll and Bute Council, and are very grateful for the support, we have some additional funds to raise to run our Fèis.Shortly before Christmas, we started a Sponsor a Tutor initiative asking a whole variety of businesses for a £250 donation to cover the cost of a tutor for the weekend”.
“People have been so generous. For example, Colin Morrison has been selling calendars with all the proceeds being shared between Fèis Mhuile and other local charities. We are so grateful for the support and generosity of people on our Island”.
The Fèis will take place in Bunessan between 7-9 February and bookings are now being taken. There is a range of options for tuition for all children aged 3 and above and there will be social events for all in the evenings.
