Touring Opportunity for Young Traditional Musicians

Young musicians from across Renfrewshire will have the opportunity to experience life as a touring musician this summer with the Fèis Phàislig Cèilidh Trail.

Now in its third year, the Cèilidh Trail is a touring group of up to six young musicians, aged 16-25, which takes to the road at the end of July. Through a tailored training and rehearsal programme, the musicians are able to develop core skills required for a career in the creative industries as well as develop their performance skills across two weeks of showcase performances.

Grant McFarlane, Fèis Phàislig coordinator, said: “The Cèilidh Trail has been such an exciting project to deliver for the last two years and I can’t wait to see what our 2020 group do. It gives young people who might be thinking of a career in the arts an opportunity to experience life as a touring musician without the financial burden. We’re also able to pay the musicians for their two weeks of touring so a great summer job for many of our young people.

Through the training and rehearsals that take place, the musicians develop their own performance and stagecraft while having to work as part of a group to deliver the tour performances. It’s a great next step for any young musician who is looking to gain more experience of performing as well as gain an insight in to the organisation and planning of concerts!”

Applications for the 2020 Cèilidh Trail are now open and close on Februrary 16th 2020. Young musicians aged 16-25 are encouraged to find out more and apply through the Fèis website at www.feisphaislig.com. Auditions will take place on Sunday 1st March 2020.
