Mòd Academy

Since Mòd Academy began, Fèisgoil, in partnership with An Comunn Gàidhealach and the local authority where the Royal National Mòd will be taking place that year, have been delivering the service, sending a team of tutors in to support local schools where teachers and pupils wish to learn a Gaelic song and/or poem in order to take part in the Mòd.

Mòd Pheairt 2022

We are keen to support children and young people wishing to take part in both the local Aberfeldy Mòd in June (virtual) and the Royal National Mòd, due to be held in Perth in October.  With this in mind, Fèisean nan Gàidheal, in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council, is offering the following opportunity through Mòd Academy 2022:

Song and poetry recitation support in class:
School classes will be invited to learn a song and a Gaelic poem as a whole class experience, with decisions on participation made by individual class teachers in consultation with their Headteacher.  Competition entries will be individual and schools and parents can discuss entry ahead of the closing dates. The song and poem taught will be pieces suitable for the relevant competitions and will be taught during the school day.

Tutors:
Our tutors are Gaelic speaking with singing skills and have an up-to-date disclosure check as members of Fèisean nan Gàidheal’s PVG scheme.

Time-frame:
We are currently delivering weekly support sessions in schools, where possible across 4 consecutive weeks in the run up to the local Aberfeldy Mòd.  We intend to continue these support sessions after the summer holidays in the term leading up to the Royal National Mòd in Perth
(14-22 October 2022).

Entries:
It will be up to parents and guardians to record and enter their children’s submissions into the local Aberfeldy Mòd should they wish to do so. Virtual entries for the local Aberfeldy Mòd close on Monday 13th June 2022 and can be submitted via aberfeldy.ancomunn.co.uk and guidance for submitting video entries can be found here. Children can also be entered into the in-person Royal National Mòd in Perth via the An Comunn Gàidhealach Website (closing date for entries tbc).
