Project:

The intention was to create and publish a collection of tunes targeted specifically towards current and future players of mainly Scottish traditional and contemporary music on both flute and whistle.

Brief:

A view to establish, or at least, suggest a common repertoire of tunes suitable for flute and whistle players to share and perform together in sessions throughout Scotland, and perhaps sessions of Scottish traditional music which take place abroad. The intention is that the book will re-introduce some old tunes, which may have been forgotten, but also introduce new material as well, looking forward to the future, as well as to the past.

Outcome:

The three editors of “The FluteFling Collection” are all very pleased with the end result of our project – a 64 page collection of 133 tunes, 44 of which are original compositions, never published before. The book was launched at a successful launch event, where some of the tunes were played to a large audience.
