Fèis an Iar Thuath 2017 open for bookings

Fèis an Iar Thuath are delighted to announce that applications are now being taken for this year’s fèis in Scourie, Sutherland.

Over Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st February 2017 the fèis will offer workshops for young people aged 8 to 18 in the following subjects: fiddle, accordion, guitar, chanter & pipes, tin whistle, drama and percussion. Additional workshops in groupwork and a Gaelic games session will also be on offer each day.

Tutors for the event include Lindsay Cherry, Addie Harper, Irene Fraser, Joseph Peach and Lisa MacDonald and this star team will provide music and entertainment at the annual fèis cèilidh. This cèilidh is open to all and will take place in Scourie Village Hall from 7pm on Monday 20th February.

As well as the main fèis workshops a Fèis Bheag or ‘Wee Fèis’ will offer younger children the chance to join the fun through music and arts play sessions. These sessions are suitable for children aged 4 to 7 and will be led by Lisa MacDonald.

The main fèis for 8-18 year olds costs £14 – this includes two days of tuition and a mid-morning snack each day. The Fèis Bheag meanwhile costs £5 per day and also includes a mid-morning snack.

An information leaflet and booking form for each event is available here. If you would like more information please contact Fèis an Iar Thuath secretary Sheilah Cunningham on 01971 502 072 / sheilahcunningham@btinternet.com.
