Applications are now open for Fèis Òigridh na Mara 2020: a residential weekend of music and Gaelic song tuition specifically for young people in S1 – S6.
The weekend will take place Friday 7 – Sunday 9 February 2020 at Arisaig Hotel with masterclasses in specific instruments, Gaelic singing, session playing and an opportunity to take part in a short concert at the end of weekend. Tuition will be led by Iain MacFarlane (Glenfinnan Cèilidh Band, Angus Binnie (Fras), Innes Watson (Jarlath Henderson Band), Lauren Moir (Riska Cèilidh Band) and Lauren Byrne (former Fèisean Lochabair Cèilidh Trail participant and co-ordinator).
The cost for the weekend for residential students is £60 and is inclusive of two nights stay at Arisaig Bunkhouse plus meals Friday night until Sunday afternoon and all the weekend’s tuition. For additional children from the same family attending the residential, the cost will be £35. The cost for non-residential students is £25 – £15 for additional children attending from the same family – and is inclusive of lunch Saturday and Sunday and all tuition. There are further discounts available to youngsters who receive free school meals.
Funding for the event has been secured from Friends of Highland Music as well as regular Fèisean nan Gàidheal funders.
