With support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Fèisean nan Gàidheal are delighted to announce a new Gaelic songwriting project Rannan Ùra (New Verses) giving young people aged 14-25 the opportunity to develop their writing skills.
Rannan Ùra will be directed by leading Gaelic singer and songwriter Alasdair Whyte who will support and direct participants allowing them to develop their ideas and bring confidence to their writing skills.
Participants will have the opportunity to record their songs professionally.
The first weekend will be held in Glasgow on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd March and will be open to 18-25 year olds. Workshops will run each day between 10am – 4pm at the Scottish Youth Theatre with lunch, teas and coffee provided.Accommodation can be provided for those who live outwith Glasgow and are unable to travel daily.
The second weekend will be held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March in Inverness (Venue TBC) and will be open to 14-20 year olds. Workshops will run each day between 10am – 4pm with lunch, teas and coffee provided. Accommodation will be provided for those who live outwith Inverness and who cannot travel daily with appropriate supervision in place for those who are under 18.
Attendance at the Rannan-Ùra workshops will cost £10 per participant / £25 for those requiring accommodation with support also available for travel.
This opportunity is open to fluent Gaelic speakers who have an interest in writing Gaelic songs and developing their skills.
