Guth nan Gael is a cultural exchange project between Feisean nan Gàidheal in Scotland and the Oriel Centre, Dundalk in Ireland which brings together young Gaelic and Irish speaking traditional musicians aged between sixteen and twenty-two.
The project focuses on language usage and acquisition while giving participants the opportunity to participate in workshops, cultural visits and performances showcasing and developing the links and shared cultural traditions of Scotland and Ireland.
In August 2018, 5 Scottish youngsters visited Dundalk for workshops and performances. The following month, the Dundalk musicians visited Scotland and together they performed at Ceòl nam Fèis and the Òran Mòr. You can see photos and videos of both trips on the group’s Facebook page.
We gratefully acknowledge the continuing support from the Colmcille scheme, Bòrd na Gàidhlig and Foras na Gaeilge for this project.
