Fèisean nan Gàidheal Seeks Trainers to Deliver New Courses

In 2017, two new training coursed were devised for Fèisean nan Gàidheal by Iain F Macleod to provide development opportunities to tutors who work in the formal and informal sectors through Fèisgoil and the Fèisean. These courses are designed at two levels: a beginners’ for new tutors and an advanced course for those who are more experienced.

We are now looking for a group of people who will be capable of delivering these courses to tutors in communities across Scotland. Two training days will be held on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th March in Millburn Academy, Inverness, where Iain F will educate trainers on the courses and direct them on how they are to be delivered.

On the first day, Iain will go through the course in detail, explaining the aims of each subject and how they could be taught. There will be examples of lesson plans and tactics to keep children interested, as well as resources which will be readily available to tutors on a local and national level. Information on Fèisean nan Gàidheal and our policies on child protection and Gaelic usage through games and conversation will also be shared.

The second day will concentrate on the more practical element of the course whereby trainers will be invited to share their own personal teaching and problem solving methods, and they will receive further training in dealing with teaching in different situations.

After these training days we aim to have these courses delivered to aspiring Fèis and Fèisgoil tutors across Scotland, developing the skills of our existing pool of tutors as well as supporting and encouraging the next generation.

If you have teaching experience and would be interested in learning how to deliver our new courses, please take a look at the application form and tell us about yourself. The course will be free of charge and expenses will be reimbursed within reason.
